Smart watch is one of the newest categories of digital gadgets. Although the trend of the development for digital devices proportionates with their screen sizes, smart watch is the converse of the fashion. It is incredibly small and it is not intended to be seen or to be focused. Instead, we put it in a position of a personal trainer, coach or assistant with a more subtle or flexible manner. Therefore, smart watch are suppose to be extremely personal. There are some basic principles for me to design in this approach.
ONE FOCUS AT A TIME
As we aware that smart watch is a type of wearables that located on the human wrist, so inevitably the screen sizes is compromised. Thus, from the layout perspective, the design of the watch UI should only focus on one action at a time. And it should not offers multiple options as users may lose focus on such a small screen, and the outcome would be disastrous.
From the user perspective, the watch is to assist their tasks in a more effective and subtle way. So the advantage of using watch instead of phone in the pocket is simple - faster and easier to complete a task. Restricting the elements per page will enable a greater experience over smartphone and that will potentially be the reason of some users purchasing a smart watch.
